FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

An industrial Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), also called an AC drive, variable speed drive (VSD), adjustable frequency drive (AFD), frequency inverter, inverter drive or AC motor controller, is a power electronic device used to control the speed, frequency, torque and acceleration of AC motors. VoltNex Power industrial VFDs are designed for applications including industrial pumps, fans, blowers, HVAC systems, air compressors, conveyors, CNC machines, textile machinery, extruders, production lines, mining equipment and automated manufacturing systems.

VoltNex Power provides VFD and AC drive solutions from 0.75kW to 1000kW, covering approximately 1HP to 1350HP depending on the selected product series and configuration. Common industrial ratings include 7.5kW, 11kW, 15kW, 18.5kW, 22kW, 30kW, 37kW, 45kW, 55kW, 75kW, 90kW, 110kW, 132kW, 160kW, 200kW, 250kW, 315kW, 400kW, 500kW, 630kW, 800kW and 1000kW+ custom VFD systems.

Yes. VoltNex Power supports three-phase VFDs and selected single-phase input VFD configurations according to the required motor power and electrical system. Three-phase AC drives are widely used for industrial motors and high-power applications, while suitable single-phase input models can be used for smaller motor systems. The VFD should always be selected according to the motor nameplate voltage, current, phase and application requirements.

VoltNex Power offers VFD configurations for common industrial voltage systems including 208V, 220V, 230V, 240V, 380V, 400V, 415V, 440V and 480V, with additional voltage configurations available for specific projects and VFD series. For international OEM projects, the VFD can be configured according to the destination country’s power supply, motor rated voltage and frequency requirements.

V/F (Voltage/Frequency) control provides a practical and economical method for controlling common variable-speed motor loads such as pumps, fans and blowers. Sensorless Vector Control (SVC) provides more advanced speed and torque regulation and can deliver improved low-speed performance and starting torque for demanding applications. Closed-loop vector control can also be considered when encoder feedback and higher speed-control accuracy are required.

VFD selection should not be based on motor kW or HP alone. Important parameters include motor rated power, full-load current (FLA), voltage, phase, frequency, load type, starting torque, overload requirement, acceleration time and operating environment. For example, a 15kW motor may normally use a 15kW VFD, but a heavy-inertia conveyor, compressor, hoist or other high-starting-torque application may require a higher-duty or larger-rated VFD. Sending the motor nameplate allows VoltNex Power engineers to recommend a suitable AC drive.

Yes. Industrial Variable Frequency Drives are suitable for both variable-torque and constant-torque motor loads. Typical variable-torque applications include centrifugal pumps, water pumps, wastewater pumps, HVAC fans and blowers. Constant-torque applications can include belt conveyors, industrial air compressors, hoists, cranes, machine tools and material handling equipment. The VFD control mode and overload rating should be selected according to the specific load.

Yes, particularly in applications where motor speed can be reduced according to actual process demand. VFDs can regulate motor speed rather than continuously operating a motor at fixed full speed, which can provide significant energy-saving potential for centrifugal pumps, cooling fans, HVAC systems and blowers. Actual energy savings depend on motor efficiency, load profile, operating hours, process requirements and the amount of speed reduction.

Depending on the VFD model, VoltNex Power drives can include protection and diagnostic functions such as overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, overload, short circuit, phase loss, motor overheating and VFD overtemperature protection. Heavy-duty models can also be configured for higher overload capacity, such as 150% overload for 60 seconds and 180% for 3 seconds, subject to the specific product series and operating conditions.

Yes. Selected VoltNex Power VFDs support RS485 and Modbus RTU communication, with optional industrial fieldbus interfaces depending on the model. The AC drive can be integrated with PLC, HMI, SCADA, industrial control systems, building automation and smart factory networks for motor control, parameter setting, operating-status monitoring and fault information exchange.

Yes. VoltNex Power supports customized VFD enclosures and industrial drive cabinets, including IP20 and IP54 configurations where applicable. Cabinet solutions can incorporate circuit breakers, contactors, reactors, EMC filters, braking components, control equipment and communication interfaces. Depending on the VFD power and installation environment, natural air cooling or forced air cooling with temperature-controlled fans can be selected for thermal management.

Yes. VoltNex Power is a China VFD manufacturer and factory providing OEM, ODM, private-label and customized industrial AC drive solutions. Customization can include VFD power rating, kW/HP capacity, input voltage, phase configuration, 50Hz/60Hz frequency, V/F or vector control, enclosure design, IP protection, cooling system, HMI, RS485/Modbus communication, firmware parameters and branding. We supply VFDs directly to machinery manufacturers, distributors, system integrators, EPC contractors and industrial customers worldwide.
