DG Series Single Phase Isolation Transformer
The DG series single phase isolation transformer is a dry type transformer designed to transfer AC power while providing electrical isolation between the input and output circuits.
Unlike a standard transformer selected mainly for voltage conversion, a 1:1 isolation transformer can maintain approximately the same voltage level while separating the primary and secondary electrical circuits.
The standard 220V to 220V isolation transformer configuration is suitable for industrial equipment requiring an isolated AC power supply. It can be used with CNC machines, automation equipment, machine tools, electrical cabinets, testing equipment and other industrial electrical systems.
Voltnex Power also provides custom single phase isolation transformers with different input voltages, output voltages, capacities and enclosure designs.

How Does a Single Phase Isolation Transformer Work?
A single phase isolation transformer transfers electrical power from the primary winding to the secondary winding through electromagnetic induction.
The primary and secondary windings are electrically separated and are not directly connected. Electrical energy is transferred through the transformer’s magnetic core.
In a standard 220V to 220V configuration, the transformer maintains approximately the same output voltage while providing electrical isolation between the incoming power supply and the connected equipment.
Basic Power Flow
AC Input → Primary Winding → Magnetic Core → Secondary Winding → Isolated AC Output → Connected Equipment
This makes the DG series suitable for applications where electrical separation between the power source and industrial equipment is required.
Why Use an Isolation Transformer for Industrial Equipment?
A single phase isolation transformer is commonly used when industrial equipment requires electrical separation from the upstream power supply.
Typical applications may benefit from:
- Electrical isolation between input and output circuits
- Separation of industrial equipment from the upstream power system
- Reduced coupling of certain electrical disturbances
- Isolated power for control and automation equipment
- Improved power interface for sensitive electrical loads
- Flexible voltage and capacity configuration
- Suitable power supply for testing and maintenance applications
Actual performance depends on the transformer design, grounding arrangement, connected load and characteristics of the electrical system.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is a single phase isolation transformer?
A single phase isolation transformer transfers AC power between primary and secondary windings while maintaining electrical isolation between the two circuits. It is commonly used for industrial equipment, control systems and electrical loads requiring an isolated power supply.
2. What is the DG series isolation transformer used for?
The DG series is designed for CNC machines, machine tools, industrial automation, electrical control cabinets, testing equipment and other industrial applications requiring electrical isolation.
3. Is the DG transformer a step-down transformer?
The standard configuration is 220V input and 220V output, making it primarily a 1:1 isolation transformer rather than a step-down transformer. Custom step-down or step-up voltage configurations may also be available.
4. What does a 1:1 isolation transformer mean?
A 1:1 isolation transformer has approximately the same primary and secondary voltage. For example, a 220V input and 220V output transformer can provide electrical isolation without significantly changing the voltage level.
5. Is the DG transformer dry type?
Yes. The DG series is a dry type isolation transformer and does not use insulating oil.
6. What capacities are available?
The standard DG series covers approximately 2kVA to 30kVA. Custom capacities may be available depending on the application and electrical requirements.
7. Can the input and output voltage be customized?
Yes. Voltnex Power can manufacture custom isolation transformers with different input and output voltages according to your equipment and power system requirements.
8. Can I use an isolation transformer for CNC equipment?
Yes. Isolation transformers are commonly used with CNC machines, machine tools and industrial automation equipment where electrical separation between the equipment and upstream power supply is required.
9. Does an isolation transformer reduce electrical noise?
Electrical isolation can reduce the transfer of certain conducted disturbances between the primary and secondary circuits. Actual results depend on transformer design, grounding, load characteristics and the electrical environment.
10. What is the difference between an isolation transformer and a regular transformer?
A regular transformer is often selected mainly for voltage conversion. An isolation transformer is specifically designed to provide electrical separation between the primary and secondary circuits and may use a 1:1 voltage ratio.
11. What voltage isolation transformers can you manufacture?
We can provide custom configurations including 110V, 120V, 220V, 230V and 240V, depending on the required input voltage, output voltage, frequency and application.
12. Can Voltnex Power manufacture OEM isolation transformers?
Yes. We support OEM and custom transformer manufacturing, including customized voltage, capacity, enclosure, terminal arrangement and electrical configuration.
13. How do I choose the right kVA capacity?
The transformer capacity should be selected according to the connected load, continuous operating power and possible startup or inrush current. For equipment with motors or other high-inrush loads, additional capacity may be required.
14. Can the DG transformer be used for 50Hz and 60Hz systems?
Yes. The transformer can be configured for 50Hz or 60Hz applications according to the required electrical system.
15. What information is needed for a quotation?
Please provide:
